Grade-Level Reading Partner Spotlight

The Dubuque Community School District (DCSD) has done a lot of work to communicate the importance of attendance through various strategies including, school newsletters, PSA’s and social media posts “The Dubuque Schools are diligently working to ensure that families understand why it is important that children attend school each and every day that they are healthy.  We know that students who miss more than 10% of each school year will struggle to read proficiently by 3rd grade and also struggle to graduate on time from high school,” said Shirley Horstman, Director of Student Services.  The DCSD Board signed an Attendance Proclamation on September 8, 2014 and strongly supports improving chronic absence within the Dubuque Community Schools.  Click HERE to view the DCSD Board’s signed Attendance Proclamation.
